The Grimsby Town Women’s team had a comfortable 8-0 victory against Louth Old Boys Ladies at the weekend.

Goals from Bartup (2), Taylor (2), Wilson, Wharton and Dejonge (2) saw Town ease through to the next round of the Lincolnshire County Cup.

Speaking after the game, coach Hayley Butts said: “It was a really good performance in tough conditions. It was raining, the pitch was very boggy, but it’s really good to get through to the next round.

“I thought we were a little bit rusty, obviously we’ve had a few games cancelled, but it was great to get out on the pitch again.

“It was good to see five different players on the scoresheet today.

"It’s great to get through and we are looking forward to seeing who we get in the next round.

“We would like to thank Louth for getting the game on, making sure that the pitch was actually playable.”

Town are next in action on Sunday when they host HBW United Ladies at Oasis Academy Wintringham.
