Grimsby Town youth academy coaches will take part in a continual professional development (CPD) training event at Blundell Park in November.

The Mariners youth coaches undertake a number of CPD events throughout each year, and they will participate in a bumper session next month.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paul Stewart, former Manchester United U18s manager Paul McGuinness, and rugby league coach Denis Betts will all share insight and information to the coaches at the event.

McGuinness will carry out a talk on 1v1 tactics, splitting it into a practical and a theory section.

Betts, who is a former England assistant coach, will share his coaching journey to the Town youth academy staff.

Stewart will speak about the SAVE association, safeguarding, and victim management.

Colin Walker, head of coaching at the academy, said the event will benefit all coaches on their individual journeys.

He said: “The coaches at the Academy are all on their own personal learning journey/pathway.

“No matter whether they are working towards qualification or what level they are already qualified to, the intention is that every individual enhances their skills and abilities in some way.

“This event will cover a range of topics in a practical and relevant way to ensure that everyone has something they can take away.”

Neil Woods, academy manager, said: “We are extremely grateful to Denis Betts, Paul Stewart and Paul McGuinness that they have agreed to present and share their unique insight and experience with the staff.

“We are also pleased to be able to share this opportunity and collaborate with a number of our key partners with the Sports and Education Trust, Grimsby Town Ladies, the Grimsby Institute along with staff from the PFA, EFL and LFE all invited to attend on the day.”

The Academy are still looking for a headline sponsor for this event. Should you be interested, for more information please contact Adam Smith (email:
