Neil Woods’s Grimsby Town youth team are in Youth Alliance Cup action as they travel to Salford City tomorrow (1pm).
The young Mariners fell to two late goals as they lost 2-1 away at Huddersfield Town in the EFL North East Youth Alliance last weekend.
Town put in an impressive performance, with Brandon McPherson putting the young Mariners ahead from the penalty spot in the first half, before a frustrating final few minutes of the match.
And they will be hoping to be on the right side of the result as they travel to Salford City in their third (of four) Youth Alliance Cup group match tomorrow.
The Mariners sit on three points in the group table, after beating Chesterfield 3-0 at home in their first game and losing 2-0 away at Scunthorpe United in their last cup match.
But Salford will be a tough test for Town, as they’re flying in their respective league table – the EFL North West Youth Alliance.
The Ammies have won four of their previous seven games in all competitions, and will be hoping to continue their good form against Town this weekend.
Salford are level on points with Town in the cup group as they sit on three points, after winning 2-1 away at Scunthorpe United and losing by the same scoreline away at Walsall.
After tomorrow’s clash with Salford, the young Mariners play their final Youth Alliance Cup group match as they face Walsall at Cheapside on Saturday, November 9 (12pm).
