Grimsby Town Academy U8/9 players were invited to play at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground last weekend.

The training ground houses both the Everton first team and the Youth Academy.

As the players and staff arrived they were shocked to be greeted by England’s number one Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Pickford and his teammates were at the training ground preparing for their Premier League fixture the following day away at Bournemouth.

The goalkeeper was brilliant with the young players and spent time taking pictures and signing autographs.

Grimsby Town stars of the future put on a fantastic footballing display and it didn’t go unnoticed by former Mariner Phil Jevons who took time out from his Academy coaching role at Everton to come watch the boys.

He took the time to chat with the players after the game offering some words of encouragement and talking the boys through that famous goal away at Anfield.

Lawrence Heward, lead foundation phase coach at Grimsby Town Academy, said: “All the boys were a credit to Grimsby Town Football Club and their local grassroots teams.

“We continue to provide our young players with the best possible opportunities and experiences they can look back on throughout their footballing journeys.

“Seeing the boys smile and have huge amounts of fun is what football is all about.”
