On this day in 2015, the Mariners made it six games unbeaten as they thrashed struggling Southport.
The game was over as a contest by half-time, and defeat leaves Southport without a win in six games.
Craig Clay opened the scoring with a stunning strike, finding the top corner from 25 yards, before Craig Disley headed in from close range.
Jon-Paul Pittman made it three before Josh Gowling headed in to complete the rout, while Gary Jones was sent off to pile on the misery for Southport.
Full-time: Southport 0-4 Grimsby Town
Speaking after the game, manager Paul Hurst told iFollow: "Four-nil away from home against a team that had shown quite a bit of improvement and only one loss in six, the same as ourselves, and from what I had heard and having had them watched. We played well.
"To come away with the three points as comfortably as we did is a good afternoon.
"I was pleased that we got the four goals so quickly I think that just killed them off mentally as much as anything in terms of any thoughts of a comeback at all, and then we got in some good areas."
