Our Grimsby Town Women’s team shone on their Blundell Park debut today after they saw off Barton United Ladies 6-3.

After a slow start, Town found themselves a goal down early on, but parity was soon restored when LIBBI WRIGHT converted from the penalty spot.

Barton again took the lead, but Town hit back again when SOPHIE BARTUP headed home from a corner. And it was ELLIE WILSON who was to fire the Mariners into the lead for the first time, just before the break.

ALISHA DEJORGE added Town’s fourth, but the visitors were not ready to surrender just yet, and from a break-away, they added a third goal to make the end of the game a bit more interesting.

But Town had other ideas and LIBBI WRIGHT got her second and Town's fifth soon after. BETHANY WHARTON completed the scoring late on.

It's now two wins out of two for Dale Houlston's side.

All the goals and reaction coming up soon.

Town: Codd, Wilkinson, Bartup, Wells, Kershaw, Wilson, Smith, Proud, Wharton, Dejorge, Wright.

Subs: Taylor, Rawbone, Collingwood, Robinson.
