With COVID-19 putting a stop to live performances, Grimsby Town Football Club are hosting a recorded performance from the Lincolnshire Hospitals Band to help raise funds for the Humberston Park School Hydrotherapy Pool Appeal.
From 7pm this evening, the performance from the Lincolnshire Hospitals Band will go LIVE on our official YouTube channel which can be accessed HERE.
Originally performed on Saturday 25th November 2017, the 'Last Night of the Humberston Proms' performance attracted a large audience to the Beachcomber Entertainment Centre who enjoyed a popular musical performance.
Organised by the Humberston Happening, GTFC are helping to assist with the raising of funds, all of which will be donated to the Humberston Park School Hydrotherapy Pool Appeal, registered Charity Number 1016519. A donation link can be found in the description of the video, or by clicking HERE.
Trevor Grayson of Humberston Happening spoke to gtfc.co.uk about the fundraiser and their fantastic cause.
"Without a doubt, this year has been a difficult one for almost everyone. Charities, unfortunately, have not been immune to the problems. One extremely valuable local charity has been particularly badly hit. The Hydrotherapy Pool at the Humberston Park Special School provides a vital facility for the special children who use it. Most of these children have profound disabilities and come from all over North East Lincolnshire. The Hydrotherapy Pool was built by charitable donations and still completely depends on fund-raising to finance the £35,000 - £40,000 per year required for maintenance and running costs. It receives no other external funding. The absence of fund-raising events this year has dealt a devastating blow.
"For the last twelve years, the annual Last Night of the Proms Concert has been it's a major fund-raising event. Every penny raised by these immensely popular Concerts since 2008 has been donated to the Hydrotherapy Pool. So far around £40,000 has been donated in this way. The Humberston Happening has been pleased and proud to have organised these rousing and patriotic occasions.
"Every one of the Last Night of the Proms Concerts has been performed by the brilliant Lincolnshire Hospitals' Band, the only band with a direct connection to the NHS. It was formed forty years ago by NHS staff and until fairly recently, had its band room at the Lincoln County Hospital. To this day, many of the Band work, or have worked for the NHS. For this group of talented and highly entertaining musicians the Band is more than just their hobby, it is their passion.
"This year's Last Night of the Proms concert had to be cancelled. However, we are delighted to be able to show the film of the 2017 Last Night of the Proms Concert in the hope and belief that it will provide an oasis of festive spirit and joy amidst the desert of gloom which has pervaded most of our lives this year.
Every penny raised by the screening of this Concert will be donated to the Humberston Hydrotherapy Pool."
We also spoke to GTFC Chairman, Philip Day who also explained his delight at being able to support the cause.
"I am delighted that we have been able to support the Hydrotherapy Pool at Humberston Park School by allowing the Club’s facilities to be used to show the film of the 2017 Last Night of the Proms. This is a marvellous charity which does amazing work for children with profound disabilities. I would urge fans to view the film and support the charity with donations no matter how small."
Be sure to help support this fantastic cause where possible by using the donation link found in the description of the video, or by clicking HERE, however big or small every donation helps!
