“Tickety-boo” was how Ian Holloway described getting off to a winning start at Mansfield Town today.
“The chairman bought them all a meal yesterday, and he said some wonderful things about the group of people,” Holloway said.
“I just can’t wait to carry on. Honestly, I swear to you, I’m absolutely worn out.
“I’ve got to drive down to Bath, I’m going to have to leave my wife there because she’d got some grannying stuff on Monday and Tuesday, I’m going to come back and smash everything I can!
“Thank you to you lot for making me and my wonderful wife feel so welcome. It’s a big decision and a long, long way away from home.
“We’ve got beautiful grandchildren, I’m going to see them all tomorrow, and then poor old grampy has got to go off again.
“But the way I look at it, they’re two, and I’ve got a load of young people here I can help until they’re a bit older, because they probably don’t even miss me anyway!
“They got all their presents for Christmas, they don’t even really know who I am yet! One of them calls me ba instead of gramps!
“But I want to try and make a difference up here, and hopefully our fans, and me, and the board, and our wonderful players, can move forward, and improve our lives. That’s all I want to do.”
