Our Lincolnshire County Cup Semi-Final against Cleethorpes Town Ladies will be played at Blundell Park on Sunday 16th February.
Manager Dale Houlston gave his reaction to the draw.
Dale, how do you feel about the outcome of the County Cup draw at home to Cleethorpes Town Ladies?
"Yes it's a great draw isn't it, a local derby. It couldn't really be more of a local derby either could it. But it is also an opportunity for us to finally test ourselves against a team from the league above us. Cleethorpes Town won our league last year, got themselves promoted to Tier 6; and although they've initially struggled to get going in that league, they have recently put together a result or two and are showing signs that they are moving in the right direction. They are in a bit of a fight at the bottom of their league to stay up, but they've got every chance of doing so. I am sure they will come to Blundell Park wanting to get one over us, and who could blame them.
"There will be some nice local good-natured rivalry leading up to the game I am sure, that is is what makes these local cup ties fun after all isn't it. We have players that know each other, so there will be a bit of that going on, but I am sure it will all be in good spirit. There might be one or two funny dilemmas too, from people who have a connection and fondness for Cleethorpes Town but are Grimsby Town fans. Possibly the other way around too. Cleethorpes is a lovely little club, and in actual fact my daughter Ava has been playing football for their under 15's girls' team this season. Ever since she joined the Owls, everyone has been so welcoming to my family when we have come up to the Linden from Skegness. I suppose I feel a part of that club from a junior football perspective, and that's down to some really nice people there connected to her team.
"One thing is for sure, it will capture the imagination of a lot of people in the area and it's certain to be well supported, especially as the game is going to be played at Blundell Park. I think that based on our last game at Blundell Park, where we had over 500 supporters, we might see quite a few more than that this time, and we might be about to set another record for the area in women's football attendance. What a wonderful privilege that is for everyone connected with both clubs, two local women's teams that have reached the semi-final of the Lincolnshire County Cup, putting on a football festival at the home of football in the area. My message to supporters of both teams is this; come and watch us and have a fantastic afternoon out, we will be delighted to see you all and very grateful too. And as for Grimsby Town Football Club, you have been absolutely phenomenal this season with the support you've given your female players and the desire you have show to get behind women's football. All of the staff at the club have been terrific. Games don't just happen at Blundell Park, there a lot of people behind the scenes that make these events possible. They've all been brilliant. Not forgetting of course that the manager Ian Holloway has to be happy that we are playing a game on his pitch. So we are very grateful to him too".
