In this exclusive iFollow interview, Youth coach Neil Woods tells us who out of last season’s crop of youngsters have been offered professional contracts with the club. We also get the coaches low-down on them and what they could offer Ian Holloway.
“It’s never a good time of the year when Neil has to tell the young players that they won’t be offered a deal with the Mariners, but he says that it was doubly difficult this time because he had to do it online because of the coronavirus," Woods said.
Neil said: “We lost the last 12-13 week of the season like everybody else did. The outcome of the leagues is not such a big thing as it is with the first team scenario.
“To tell the 18’s the yeses and the noes is never a good day in the best of circumstances, to have to do it over a GoToMeeting on a computer is even harder.
“It had to be done and the boys that obviously got the yeses were over the moon, and the ones that didn’t were disappointed but dealt with it in the way that we thought they would do.”
