Apologies, this video is unvailable.

Watch the build up and the whole game here from 3pm.

The 1997/98 season had already proved to be a historic and memorable one for Grimsby Town football club.

That first visit had seen Town lift the Auto Windscreen’s Shield, and now there was an opportunity for further success on the hallowed turf, this time in the second division play-off final.

The Mariners had secured their place in that final thanks to a 2-1 aggregate semi-final victory over big-spending Fulham.  Kevin Donovan got the all-important decisive goal in front of an electric atmosphere inside of Blundell Park.

The Mariners were back at Wembley Stadium, just five weeks after their first-ever trip to the twin towers. This time the stakes were that much higher - one game to decide whether it would be Grimsby Town or Northampton Town who would earn their place in the first division.

Be sure to watch the whole 90 minutes of this final from 3pm.
