We are delighted to announce that Olivia Leslie has joined our women’s team in a dual registration agreement with FA Women’s National League club Lincoln City Women.
Leslie is an experienced 22-year-old defensive midfield player, talented on the ball and known for her athleticism and fitness. She has made 46 appearances in the last two seasons at FA Women’s National League level and arrives as part of the club’s plans to add strength in our quest to challenge for promotion this season.
Speaking on the new arrival, manager Dale Houlston said: “It’s vital that we put ourselves in the best possible position to gain promotion. We know we’ve got some extremely tough challenges ahead. There’s only one team guaranteed promotion from this league, and so the race for that top spot is going to be one hell of a challenge. Bringing Olivia in is another super addition as we strive to win promotion.
“The dual signing comes at a great time for us as we’ve recently had a couple of disappointing departures. Laura Saxby has decided to hang up her boots to concentrate on coaching, and Lindsay Crofton has decided to move back down to County League level. I wish both of those players all the best and thank them for their contribution.
“But it’s also come at a great time for Olivia too and I’d like to thank Lincoln manager, Richard Cooper for his help with this. Richard is a good friend and you really need friends in football. He’s been very accommodating in reaching an agreement where Olivia has the opportunity to continue developing with us”.
On joining Town, Olivia added: “I’m really excited to get going, take on this new challenge and hopefully help develop myself and the team at Grimsby and see where it takes me”
