Grimsby Town Women completed their Pre-season schedule with a fine 2-1 win against a visiting Lincoln City Women's Development team today.
Goalscorer's for Town were Libbi Wright from the penalty spot in the first-half, before Lincoln's Ella Tuplin levelled the score before halftime with a superbly hit strike for the FA Women's National League Reserves Division team.
A second-half goal from Sophie Bell sealed the victory, in a game where the mariners should have taken a number of clear cut chances they created to win by a greater scoreline.
Town Manager, Dale Houlston said: "I am extremely pleased with the performance today, and there are so many positives for us to take into next weeks FA cup match. The players have been terrific and it gives me a selection headache for next week, but that's a great headache to have".
"Lincoln City Development are a super team of talented young players, with one or two more experienced players in there too. I would like to thank Steve Hardie for bringing his team across to Grimsby and wish them every success for the season. I would also like to thank Sophie Hudson for deputising in goal for us today. Sophie is a super goalkeeper and an even better person."
The season officially kicks off next Sunday when Dale Houlston's side face Ollerton Town Ladies for an FA Cup preliminary round clash.
The tie will be played at the Bradley Football Development Centre, with a 2pm kick-off.
