Grimsby Town Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper, Jake Eastwood on loan from Premier League side Sheffield United until the end of the season.
The 6-foot-3 goalkeeper teams up once again with manager Paul Hurst, who took the young goalkeeper on loan whilst at his former club Scunthorpe United.
Eastwood spent the opening period of the 2020/21 season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock, with injury preventing him from making more than the two appearances he made in all competitions. Following a full recovery, Jake is now fit and ready to hit the ground running.
A delay in paperwork may have stopped Eastwood training today with his new teammates, but he is looking forward to getting going and helping the Mariners secure their EFL status.
"It's all been pretty sudden to be fair. A couple of days ago this wasn't really an option but the gaffer got in touch with me and asked if I wanted to come here and I said yes because I saw it as a good opportunity for me.
"I worked with the gaffer at Scunthorpe and I played so it's nice for him to think that I could come and do a job here. I don't know exactly how many but I think I kept 7 clean sheets in my league games so I have got a pretty good ratio and hopefully I can carry that on here.
"I am looking forward to it. We need to stay up and win some points and at the bottom of the table where we are, they don't really come around very often so as soon as we start picking up some points and some wins, we will be in a much better position in a short period of time."
Eastwood will now be eligible for Saturday's journey to Newport County AFC. You can purchase your match pass for the fixture via iFollow Mariners.
