On the injury front, the Town boss has confirmed that he has a growing list of injuries ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash.
Speaking on iFollow, he said: “We’ve got a few injuries, to be honest.
“I don’t want to go into detail on who they are, but it will probably become clear after the weekend.
“They might not feel they need it, but I don’t want to give Exeter any more help!
“We’ve certainly got a team and a squad to go down there, but there’s a couple of lads that won’t be travelling who people might have expected to.”
Hurst confirmed that there might be some enforced changes at St James’ Park.
He said: “That’s a slight disappointment because when you looked at the performance in general, it would have been nice to have a game sooner than we have.
“It seems a hell of a long time to me, and in some ways, the lads will have almost forgotten about that.
“We’ll try and remind them of the good bits and the fact that they’ve got to be more ruthless.
“We’ve spoken about the start of the second half and that it ultimately cost us on the day.”
