Our Under 18’s side kept their unbeaten run going thanks to a late equaliser against Lincoln City this morning.
Both sides started well, Adlard was denied by the keeper early on, with Town keeper, Boyes denying a City striker at the other end from close range.
However, it was Town who took the lead when Adlard’s through ball found Tomlinson who poked past the keeper after 20 minutes.
City responded immediately after some neat play around the box resulted in a penalty that was well dispatched.
Town then hit the bar through Milner and Khouri saw a shot well saved by the Imp’s keeper.
There were plenty of chances at both ends during the second half too.
But it was the visitors who were to take the lead this time, again scoring from the penalty spot. And it was soon three for the Imps when a fine bit of individual play saw a curling shot nestle in the corner.
Town were still plugging away though, with Essel and then Boyd going close.
But, after some good pressing by Town and some good play by Scott, Adlard found Bramwell to tap in from close range, giving the young Mariners some hope with 15 minutes remaining.
Town continued to push for the equaliser, and when Khouri’s ball landed for Adlard, he teed up Hodgson to slot home and make it all square.
Neil Woods’ side move up to fourth in the Youth Alliance North East Table, having played five or six games less than the teams above them. Town also remain unbeaten during the 2020/21 campaign.
Next up for Town is a trip to Scunthorpe on Tuesday.
- Scott (#9-60)
- Hodgson (#11-75)
- Boyd (#7-60)
