The Mariners Trust are hoping to launch a brand new Fanzone at Blundell Park ahead of the start of the new season.
Supporters will be able to enter the fanzone on a matchday via an entrance off Constitutional Avenue - no ticket will be required - but fans will need to purchase a ticket to enter the ground to watch a game.
Dave Roberts from the Mariners Trust explains about the exciting new project. “We’ve actually had it planned for well over a year now but it was put on hold because of Covid,” he said.
“We got some money from the Premier League Fans Fund to help with it – about £15,000.
“The idea is to create somewhere where supporters can come before a game. Whenever we have surveyed, and I am sure that the new survey will say the same, it is what the fans want.”
And the Mariners Trust are targeting a ‘soft launch' during the summer. Dave added: The target is the 18th of July, we plan to have a bit of a mini beer festival here and then we will do a soft opening of the fanzone on the same day. I believe that there is a pre-season game here the week after, so hopefully, that will be the first opening for a football game. “
