Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that young defender Joey Hope has left the club.
The eighteen-year-old left-back signed his first professional contract with the club on an initial one-year deal in the summer of 2020 after his progression through the club’s Academy system.
Joey was awarded with a senior squad call up and handed the number 28 shirt in October 2019 as a second-year Scholar, making the bench in the Mariners’ final EFL Trophy fixture at home to Leicester City U21’s following a number of impressive performances in the Central League.
The youngster made his professional debut for the Mariners in September 2020, starting in the penalty shootout victory over Harrogate Town in the Papa John’s Trophy and enjoyed a short loan spell at neighbours, Cleethorpes Town in October.
We would like to wish Joey every success and all the best in the future.
