Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to answer the call from the Dons Trust, owners of AFC Wimbledon, to work together to try and change the governance of football in England and Wales.
The Government have recently announced a fan-led review and is expected to publish a preliminary report at the end of July. Grimsby Town Football Club are determined to work with other like-minded clubs to play a key part in shaping that review.
Kristine Green, Fan Elected Director, explained:
“This is really a once in a lifetime opportunity to save the game we love and change the way football operates.
“The demise of Bury and Macclesfield, and the proposed European Super League are real wake-up calls.
“We can only succeed if we work together. It is time to put aside our rivalries and turn the game that we love into one that is sustainable.
“Our call to clubs across England and Wales is simple. Join us and plot a path that transforms the game, secures the longevity of our clubs and puts fans and communities at the heart of what we do.”
Conversations have already begun with a number of other clubs and the group have scheduled a series of high-level talks over the next few weeks.
