Hall-Johnson joined Town in October 2017 after impressing during a trial with the club, and made his debut in the Mariners' 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town in February 2018. 

He had been on trial with National League side Chester, where he scored one goal in 11 league appearances for the Blues, before cementing his place in Town's first-team and making 13 league appearances at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Town exercised the extra year in Hall-Johnson's contract in summer 2018, keeping him at Blundell Park until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Hall-Johnson began his career at Norwich City, where he joined the club's academy system at the age of 11, and won the FA Youth Cup with the Canaries in the 2012-13 season.

Later in 2013, Hall-Johnson signed his first professional contract with Norwich, making his professional debut as a 65th-minute substitute in their 3-1 victory over Crawley Town in the League Cup.

Following his release from Norwich City in 2016, Hall-Johnson had spells at Maidstone United and Bishop's Stortford before securing a move to Braintree Town in October.

In his time at Braintree, Hall-Johnson played in a variety of positions scoring five goals in 25 league appearances.
